Abstract
- An 89-year-old woman developed cutaneous small vessel vasculitis and thrombocytopenia while being treated with amiodarone for atrial fibrillation. She had a medical history of hypertension, hypothyroidism, and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. After being admitted to the hospital for dyspnea and atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular rate, she received a bolus of amiodarone and subsequently developed thrombocytopenia and purpuric macules and patches on her fingertips, fingertip pads, palms, and left big toe. A punch biopsy confirmed a diagnosis of leukocytoclastic vasculitis. The woman's amiodarone treatment was discontinued and she fully recovered within two weeks. [Extracted from the article]
