Abstract

Architect Sameep Padora and his team have designed a housing development called Kasu Zama in the coastal village of Anjuna, Goa, India. The development consists of 14 residences and a few outbuildings on a small 1.2-acre site. The architects aimed to create a sense of community by incorporating a central spine, a meandering pathway that encourages residents to interact and socialize. The residences feature different architectural styles and include shaded entry porches and outdoor balconies. The site is graded to redirect water flow during the monsoon season, and a low perimeter wall provides privacy without being imposing. The development reflects Padora's commitment to community-oriented values and will soon be expanded to include denser housing for Goa's middle class. [Extracted from the article]
