Abstract

The article discusses the transformation of a private swimming pool in Istanbul into a public hall, which represents a shift in urban governance in the city. The pool was originally part of a forest area that had been encroached upon by development. After the election of a new mayor, the pool was converted into a public event space as part of a broader effort to make the area more accessible to the public. The architects involved in the project used adaptive reuse techniques to repurpose the pool, and the space is now open to the public for various activities. This project is seen as a symbol of a new approach to urban governance in Istanbul. [Extracted from the article]
