Abstract

The article describes the bypassing of ammonia in the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles. Diboradiazen compounds, derived from boron-mediated activation of dinitrogen (N2), were used. New heterocyclic compounds, which are BN-isosteres of thiophene and 1,3-oxazole, were formed through reactions with sulfur and acetic anhydride. Two new heterocyclic compounds, 1-Dur and 1-Mes, were synthesized and complete the synthesis routes. The structures of the compounds exhibit certain features of aromaticity. The study emphasizes the potential benefits of main group element-mediated N2 reductions. The project was funded by various organizations and there are no conflicts of interest.
