Abstract

A 52-year-old male developed leukocytoclastic vasculitis while being treated with cefazolin for a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection and abscess. The patient initially complained of pain in the left forearm, which was later found to have an intravenous blood clot and signs of thrombophlebitis and an abscess. After starting cefazolin and draining the abscess, the patient experienced oedema, palpable purpura, and ulcers in the lower legs. A skin biopsy confirmed leukocytoclastic vasculitis, and the patient was switched to clindamycin and treated with prednisolone. The skin lesions eventually resolved after 8 weeks.
