Abstract

Tuberculosis is the infectious disease that most causes death, especially among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PPL), so the Penitentiary Agent (PA) can play a central role in the diagnosis and treatment. Objective: to analyze the knowledge and attitudes of the AP in relation to tuberculosis, aiming to subsidize discussions on Permanent Education (PE). Methodology: Epidemiological, descriptive and exploratory study, carried out in prison institutions in Foz do Iguaçu - Paraná. The primary data were collected through a KAP model questionnaire (Knowledge, Attitude and Practice. An exploratory analysis was used through the distribution of absolute and relative frequencies. Results: There is a relationship between knowledge and attitude with age, education, length of profession, participation in courses and care for PDLs sick with tuberculosis. Conclusion: It was verified the need for investments to improve knowledge, suggesting PE as a tool to improve the participation of Agents in the Health care of PDLs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
