Abstract

This article presents a case study on the decomposition reactions of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) with saturated backbones in the coordination sphere of alanes. The study challenges the common assumption that NHCs are inert spectators and explores their reactivity with different Lewis acids and carbene types. The text discusses the synthesis of various compounds using different routes and analyzes the reactions and products using spectroscopy techniques. The article also discusses the formation of ringer-expanded compounds and the role of different NHC ligands in the reactions. The study provides insights into the reactivity of these compounds and their potential applications. The crystallographic data for the compounds discussed in the study are available for further reference.
