Abstract

This article makes an insertion in the trajectory and educational actions of a teacher woman in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, little known in the educational literature. This is Leolinda de FigueiredoDaltro (1859-1935), a primary teacher who gained notoriety in the city of Rio de Janeiro, capital of the Republic, for her performance in the women's rights movement, especially when she founded the Women's Republican Party in 1910. For this article we used some documentary sources, the author's own book and, in particular, the Brazilian Press of the time in which the name of LeolindaDaltro was repeatedly based on her political-education actions. In his teaching trajectory work with indigenous peoples in northern Goiás stands out, in the professional training of poor girls in evening courses and his militancy as a Brazilian suffragette and in defense of the female vote in Brazil.
