Abstract

Two surveys of millions of stars in our galaxy have detected spikes of infrared heat, which some astronomers believe could be evidence of alien civilizations using Dyson spheres to harness energy from their stars. Dyson spheres are hypothesized structures that would surround stars to absorb their energy. The teams of astronomers analyzed data from the European Space Agency's Gaia satellite and infrared survey data from telescopes to identify signs of excess infrared heat that could not be explained by known natural processes. However, more observations are needed to confirm the presence of Dyson spheres or determine if the signals have a natural explanation. [Extracted from the article]
