Abstract

The palm oil industry plays a vital role in Indonesia's development. As the world's largest CPO producer and exporter, Indonesia earns substantial gains in foreign currencies from palm oil, and its derivative trades bring stability and security to Indonesia's economy. Despite those significant benefits, the sector has drawn both national and international criticism for its negative environmental and social impact. This paper aims to conduct a systematic LCA evaluation guided by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC 2015) methodology to establish an ecological profile of CPO production. A GHG Audit was conducted by using activity data derived from the company's record data and from other available literature. Following the methodology prescribed by the ISCC, this study found that 0.64 KgCO2eq is emitted per KgCPO produced. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
