Abstract

The International Journal of Molecular Sciences has published a special issue on the molecular ecology, physiology, and biochemistry of insects. The issue includes eight articles, including a review on invasive species and their adaptation mechanisms, two papers on honeybees discussing protein concentration changes and gene expression patterns related to caste differentiation, a study on termite saliva proteins and their nutritional balance, two papers on the molecular mechanisms of evolutionary adaptations in the golden gall fly and the mountain butterfly, a study on odorant binding proteins and chemosensory proteins in the fall armyworm, and a study on karyotype evolution in triatomines, the vectors of Chagas disease. These articles provide valuable insights into the regulation of physiological and biochemical processes in insects and their practical applications, such as insect pest control.
