Abstract
- In his book "The Constitutional Bind," Aziz Rana argues that the reverence for the US Constitution seen among both Democrats and Republicans is a product of the 20th century and the Cold War. Rana believes that this reverence prevents any redrafting of the Constitution to reflect new political and socioeconomic realities, creating a bind. He discusses the tension among liberals who are aware of the Constitution's flaws but still see it as essential to American identity. Rana also explores various 20th-century movements that opposed the Constitution and their calls for democratic reforms. [Extracted from the article]
