Abstract

Starting from the first Council of Nicaea, the criterion according to which what is not assumed by the humanized Logos in Christ Jesus is not even redeemed, is definitively affirmed in christian theology. It follows that it is necessary that everything is assumed and that nothing remains excluded, in order to realize the warning given by Christ to his disciples in Mt 18.14. By virtue of this incarnational logic, an uninterrupted process of inculturation of the evangelical message and of the christian faith develops in the various cultural and religious contexts in which christianity is being grafted, initially throughout the Mediterranean basin and over the centuries elsewhere. Thus the "pagan" cults are - case by case - dropped or taken on and given new meaning. This historical process can also be found in the case of the so-called Mamuthones, enigmatic masked characters, protagonists of the Mamoiada Carnival, in Sardinia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
