Abstract

A 29-year-old man developed myocarditis after abusing stanozolol and testosterone for muscular enhancement. He experienced chest and epigastric pain, dyspnea, and was found to be hypoxemic and tachycardic. Laboratory tests showed elevated troponin levels and a chest X-ray indicated pulmonary edema. A transthoracic echocardiogram revealed severe global hypokinesis of the left ventricle. The man admitted to taking stanozolol pills and receiving a testosterone injection. Treatment with methylprednisolone and prednisone improved his condition, and after four months, his chest pain resolved. [Extracted from the article]
