Abstract
- A study published in Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica examined the long-term impact of 3-monthly paliperidone palmitate (PP3M) on hospitalization in patients with schizophrenia. The study followed a cohort of 76 patients over a period of 6 years. The results showed that the use of PP3M after stabilizing on 1-monthly paliperidone (PP1M) led to a significant reduction in hospital admissions and bed days. Patients who continued on PP3M for 3 years experienced a 98% decrease in the mean number of admissions per year. The study also highlighted the cost savings associated with PP3M and the additional benefits of less frequent administration. [Extracted from the article]
