Görsel Belgelerle Maraş Kalesi'nin Tarihi ve Önemi.

This study, which aims to draw attention to the historical features of Maraş Castle and the importance of preserving it, examines the changes Maraş Castle has undergone, through visual documents. Maraş Castle, located in the central district of the Kahramanmaraş Province, is a cultural heritage that has witnessed the five-thousand-year historical course of the city. The first settlements in the castle can be traced back to the beginning of the early Bronze Age. In addition to being surrounded by Roman era fortifications and harbouring the Late Hittite period archaeological remains, Maraş Castle, referred to as the traditional city centre since the Dulkadiroğlu era, has had an important place in the urban memory. In the data collection process, first, old photographs and engravings of the castle were obtained. Then, the literature review results related to the castle's architecture and history were evaluated together with field observations. It was found out that Maraş Caste has served different functions and undergone numerous changes in its history. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
