Abstract
- In Colombia, the social security system in health ensures the provision of medical services through specialized institutions, where dedicated professionals are responsible for attending to users and patients. These institutions are crucial to guarantee the right to health but face the challenge of providing care under quality standards in a demanding work environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that impact the job performance of healthcare personnel in a first-level Health Providing Institution (IPS) in the municipality of Candelaria, Valle del Cauca. To address this objective, a methodology employing a mixed approach with a cross-sectional descriptive design was proposed, utilizing a survey as the main technique, administered to a sample of 25 IPS collaborators. The survey results reveal significant trends regarding the job performance of the collaborators. Regarding the sense of belonging, the majority of respondents feel motivated to take care of their health while working, and a considerable percentage perceives an organizational culture that promotes a healthy balance between work and personal life. However, critical areas were identified in the dimensions of work behavior, functioning/performance, and work leadership. In work behavior, a significant disagreement is observed, especially in aspects related to deadline management, job pressure, time management, and learning. These critical areas require attention and improvement within the organization, as addressing these issues could significantly contribute to the creation of a more positive, efficient, and effectively led work environment.
