Abstract

In this interview, Judith Butler talks about feminism and its importance in the fight against gender inequality. She emphasizes the need to expand the care network beyond the home and to think about our global interdependence. She also mentions the attacks that feminism has faced and the importance of supporting other social movements. Butler emphasizes that feminism is not just for women, but for all those who seek to live in a world of radical equality. Additionally, she highlights the importance of academic work in understanding and addressing concepts such as gender violence. The text also raises questions about gender justice and equality, and proposes rethinking equality in terms of fundamental relationships. It also highlights the concept of "feminist potency" proposed by Veronica Gago, which refers to a form of power and counter-power that arises from collective action. The text argues that Latin American feminist movements have taught the world the importance of linking feminism with the fight against colonialism and other forms of oppression. Additionally, it mentions the importance of the feminist movement caring about unions and protecting women's labor rights. Finally, it raises the relationship between mourning and justice, and how the loss of unjust lives should drive the fight for equality. The article also addresses the importance of critical research and reflective thinking in the university, as well as the role of the humanities in ethical and medical issues. It mentions the importance of community and mutual support in the grieving process, and discusses gender violence and the need for support networks for women experiencing domestic violence. It also talks about political resistance and the importance of solidarity in countries like Mexico. The text discusses the differential application of an anti-gathering rule and how certain groups are affected by this measure. Examples of student protests in Turkey, trans rights in Eastern Europe, and Mexican migrants in the United States are mentioned, where popular resistance is criminalized. The importance of exposing and resisting this twisted logic is emphasized, as well as the importance of social movements and nonviolence in dismantling unjust institutions. Additionally, it talks about joy and collective passion in political movements, and the importance of building a transnational and decolonial feminism that includes the diversity of experiences and knowledge. Finally, the importance of disability studies and interdependence as a key concept is mentioned. In this article, Judith Butler talks about the oppression of gender ideals and the shape of the human body. She emphasizes the importance of opening our minds to diversity and creating welcoming environments for all people, regardless of their physical ability. She also mentions the importance of advocates and working with the media to achieve visibility. Butler reflects on literature as a way to imagine utopias and the importance of nonviolence based on interdependence and ethical relationship with others. [Extracted from the article]
