Abstract

This article examines the experiences of Catholic schools in remote and outback areas of Australia. It highlights the challenges faced by these schools, such as a shortage of teachers and difficulties in teaching religious education. The study emphasizes the importance of ongoing support and formation for teachers and principals to maintain the religious identity and mission of these schools. It also suggests a need for reflection on the role of Catholic schools in a changing cultural landscape. Despite these challenges, the study found that these schools are seen as an attractive option for families in the local communities, even for those without religious affiliation.
