Abstract

The Boeing 737-800 NG is a fixed-wing aircraft. It was first mass-produced in 2001. It has high-tech technology with additional winglets. Fuel system is one of the most important and useful systems for storing fuel. The location of the water scavenges ejector pump in the fuel thank. The function of the water scavenge ejector pump is remove water from the lowest point in each fuel tank to prevent corrosion. The purpose of this study was to determine the hardness and chemical composition of the water scavenge ejector pump. Vickers hardness testing method uses the Vickers hardness tester model VHS-1000S, and to find out the elements contained in the water scavenge ejector pump component, chemical composition testing is done using Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES). The methods in this research include direct observation of the water scavenge ejector pump, and literature study by collecting data sources from books or other references. The results of chemical composition in this study are Al-Mn or Al 3003 alloy and the result of hardness is 161,77VHN. The results of the chemical composition test showed that the biggest element was Aluminum (Al) at 96.73% and Manganese (Mn) at 1.59%, Al-Mn alloy which strengthened the Aluminum element without reducing corrosion-resistance. Therefore, these components have corrosion resistant properties and it can withstand certain pressures, so the location of components submerged by fuel and under pressure from the booster pump must be able to resist corrosion.
