Abstract
- The article discusses that author Milan Kundera's seminal essay on Central Europe, originally published in 1983 and republished in 2023, continues to resonate for its argument that nations like Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Poland belong culturally and historically to the West. The debate, which ignited passionate responses from Russian writers, has gained renewed relevance with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as Ukrainian intellectuals similarly assert their country's Central European identity.
