Evidencia serologica de la circulación de los lentivirus de pequeños rumiantes (maedi-visna) en un rebaño ovino de Cundinamarca.

The article presents serological evidence of the circulation of small ruminant lentiviruses (maedi-visna) in a sheep herd in Cundinamarca, Colombia. A study was conducted on a herd of 43 adult animals, where it was found that 2 out of the 12 animals analyzed tested positive for the Maedi visna virus, representing an occurrence frequency of 16% in the herd. Additionally, viral and parasitic coinfection was observed in some animals. Hematological indicators did not show significant differences between infected and non-infected animals. It is concluded that broader epidemiological studies are needed to understand the circulation of the virus and determine associated genotypes. [Extracted from the article]
