Abstract

Dr. Kelly Dunn and colleagues have published a study exploring individual differences in the effects of opioids. They analyzed data from 100 healthy volunteers who received hydromorphone and placebo over five test days. The study draws on previous research on how opioids affect pleasure and pain, and also examines the impact of a specific genetic polymorphism. The authors call for collaboration and pooling of resources to better understand how opioids affect individuals and to improve pain management. The data from the study are openly available for further research. [Extracted from the article]
