Abstract

A multicentric study conducted in northern Italy explored the potential link between atopic dermatitis (AD) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in young patients (<40 years). The study found that 8% of AD patients had CVD, with 28% of those patients being under 40 years old. The main CVD observed in young AD patients were paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT), atrial fibrillation (AF), and high burden of atrial ectopies (AE). The study suggests that chronic inflammation and psycho-physical stress associated with AD may contribute to the development of CVD in young patients. However, larger cohorts are needed to further investigate this association. [Extracted from the article]
