Abstract

A recent article by Zafeiridi et al. examined the risk of hospital admissions and emergency department visits in patients with dementia. The study found that dementia was associated with an increased risk of hospital admissions and emergency department visits, as well as a lower probability of hospital readmission. However, the study did not evaluate the impact of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) on these outcomes, which is a significant factor that has been shown to increase the risk of hospital admissions in older patients. The authors acknowledge the limitations of the study and call for further research on this important issue. [Extracted from the article]
