Abstract
- The article discusses the use of line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) as a noninvasive imaging device for diagnosing and differentiating between cutaneous mastocytoma (CM) and juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG), which are benign skin tumors in children. LC-OCT can help avoid unnecessary skin biopsies, especially in aesthetically sensitive areas. The article presents three cases of CM and three cases of JXG that were evaluated using LC-OCT, highlighting the key features of each disease. The authors recommend acquiring 3D images in patients over 20 months of age and capturing numerous 2D images in younger children to confirm the presence or absence of specific structures.
