Abstract

The article evaluates several products related to computer industries. A family of third generation off-line data preparation devices for the computer industry has been introduced by Honeywell Inc.'s Electronic Data Processing Division. Each device in the new series records data onto magnetic tape through a typewriter-like keyboard which is quite similar to standard keypunch keyboards. The International Business Machines Corp.'s (IBM) System/360 Model 85, the most powerful computer now offered by IBM, can process data up to three times faster than the model 75 and includes among its features a buffer memory that operates in 80 nanoseconds. The Model 85 is designed to help solve complex scientific problems, such as those encountered in space exploration, as well as problems generated by the extensive commercial computing needs of large businesses. Honeywell Inc. has announced the ninth and smallest model in the 200 family of computers, the model 110 complete low-cost package for small businesses.
