Selection and continuing qualification of school principals are two main issues in the field of school management. The article presents some aspects of continuing qualification of school and kindergarten principals both in legal regulation and in practical implementation. Legal norms do not differ between teachers and principals when it comes to the requirements about types and length of additional courses they have to take during certain periods of time. Courses that are offered for principals rarely come as a result of research of their professional needs and challenges.
