Abstract

Schools established for children and pupils with special educational needs in the European context face challenges related to inclusive trends, issues related to their anchoring in the educational system, their effectiveness and impact on the personal and social development of children and pupils. The paper explores the importance of schools and special education centres with a speech therapy focus and conveys the complex approach to education that children and pupils with communication disorders receive in a highly professionalised environment. At the same time, the text offers some reflections on how to disseminate the meaning of speech therapy schools from the principal's perspective, which benefit children and pupils in their current and future lives.
