Abstract

This paper presents a current view of new digital media in the context of education of the current generation of adolescents. Building on Prensky's concept of digital natives, it highlights both the necessity to perceive the online world of today's children as a potentially risky space and the educational and preventive potential that these platforms simultaneously contain. It offers readers concrete strategies for the educational and preventive use of new digital tools (for example, working with current pop culture phenomena) as well as requirements for the effectiveness of such projects. In particular, the aim of the text is to show new digital tools as a phenomenon that needs to be reflected in contemporary (special) pedagogy, and at the same time seen not only as a possible source of risks, but especially as a potentially very useful tool that depends on the ability of educators to grasp it positively.
