Abstract
- A fundamental unit of our guided wave propagation studies has been a bundle of metallic carbon nanotubes with limited or infinitely long tubes. Changing their low-energy band structures will not be taken into account when we examine electromagnetic interaction between carbon nanotube bundles. Our working hypothesis is that the conductivity of metallic carbon nanotubes is well represented by the electron gas model for the low frequency domain below optical inter-band transitions. Carbon nanotubes' conductivity is subsequently explained by this. An infinitely long bundle of metallic carbon nanotubes will be considered using an analogous multi-shell method in order to get the dispersion equations for guided wave propagation on the bundle. We shall implement the scattering theory on a finite-length bundle of carbon nanotubes. Our goal is to collect numerical data for the guided wave's parameters. Using integral equation methods originally designed for single-wall and planar arrays of carbon nanotubes, we will study the finite length effects in bundles of these materials.
