Pengawasan Pemerintah dalam Pemberantasan Kegiatan Illegal Fishing di Perairan Kepulauan Riau Tahun 2021-2022.

Background: Indonesia's vast marine resources have high potential in the fisheries sector, which can provide economic value and become a supporting factor in increasing state revenue and improving the welfare of coastal and island communities, especially fishermen. To utilize these resources to increase state revenues and achieve community well-being, effective monitoring of illegal fishing activities is needed. Objective: This study aims to examine government supervision in the eradication of illegal fishing activities in the waters of the Riau Islands in 2021-2022.Method: The research method used is a qualitative approach. The research method that the author refers to is a qualitative interview method that is conducted by asking closed questions to the research subject with the nature of an informal, semi-structured interview, so that it can produce a lot of data that can then be sorted by the author for the completion of research on the supervision of marine resources and fisheries by the Riau Islands Provincial Government in eradication of illegal fishing activities Results: The results of the study show that the government has carried out various surveillance efforts, such as increasing patrols, coordination between related agencies, and imposing strict sanctions on illegal fishing perpetrators. However, the implementation of supervision still faces various challenges, such as the vastness of the sea area, limited facilities and infrastructure, and the persistence of illegal fishing practices. Conclusion: The government needs to continue to strengthen supervision and law enforcement efforts to eradicate illegal fishing activities in the waters of the Riau Islands by increasing coordination between relevant agencies, increasing the capacity of supervisory personnel, and providing adequate facilities and infrastructure.
