Abstract

Immigration violations committed by foreign nationals are a threat to Indonesia. For this reason, the securitization process carried out by state actors by considering the threat of immigration violations is a preventive step for the Indonesian government to protect its national security. Apart from that, it is necessary to implement the immigration function as a form of effort to prevent immigration actions, so that only foreign citizens who receive residence permits are truly beneficial to the country. This research aims to find out how the securitization process applies to foreign citizen immigration violations. The research method used is a qualitative approach, data collection techniques can be in the form of literature studies and interviews. The interviews obtained are then analyzed to be presented and conclusions drawn. The results of this research show that the South Jakarta immigration office, through the implementation of securitization, has taken action against all forms of immigration violations for foreign nationals through a three-stage process, namely profiling, monitoring and deterring deportation. However, there are obstacles in the process, namely communication problems, problems with fictitious information about domicile addresses, and problems with costs for foreign citizens to return to their country of origin. The suggestion from this research is to strengthen selective policies and strengthen supervision by coordinating with several other agencies such as the embassy of the foreigner's country of origin to be able to collaborate in the deportation process.
