Abstract

In this research, Performance characteristics and solution for problems associated with propeller blade due to reverberation have been discussed. In gas turbine engine propulsion many components are rotational components and caused considerable amount of vibration. In turbo prop engines propeller is the main source of thrust production (about 95% of total thrust). In gas turbine engine, vibration is mainly caused due to rotational components. When metal propeller blades are excited near a resonant frequency, they are susceptible to destructive vibration. The main objective of this paper is to control the propeller blade's resonant vibration by using PZT (lead Zircon ate Titan ate) patches. Since aluminium alloy has low internal damping, it is taken into consideration. The numerical simulations are carried out for the propeller blades in ANSYS Workbench 17.2 with and without Piezoelectric Patches. In order to get quality results. The analysis has been carried out for both non-rotating and rotating conditions. The results of the numerical analysis indicate that, by using the PZT Patches in the propeller blades reduces the resonant vibration to some extent and some considerable amount of reverberation have been controlled.
