Abstract
- This article recounts the author's personal experience of supporting friends who were evacuated from their community in Kibbutz "Reim" following a traumatic event. The author emphasizes the importance of empathy and clinical humility in providing effective support to those affected by trauma. They describe their experiences of working with different groups and individuals, offering emotional support and normalization of feelings. The author also highlights the significance of togetherness, support, and the presence of animals in helping people during and after the event. They reflect on the role of self-psychology in shaping their response and emphasize the importance of a human presence that is willing to understand and be present for others.
