Abstract
- This document is a letter to the editor of the Journal of Anesthesia discussing the analgesia mode after cesarean section. The authors express their interest in a previous paper that suggested patient-controlled epidural analgesia (PCEA) may provide better analgesia than epidural morphine alone. They raise a few points and reservations, including the need for further analysis of preoperative and intraoperative factors that may influence postoperative pain, clarification on the use of BMI in the study, and the importance of considering the adverse effect of motor block when using local anesthetics. The authors appreciate the innovative work and emphasize the importance of optimizing doses of local anesthetics and opioids for PCEA. [Extracted from the article]
