Abstract

A study conducted from September 2020 to December 2021 describes 41 patients, including 40 women and 1 man aged 30-84 years, who developed retinopathy while being treated with hydroxychloroquine for various conditions such as Sjogren syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. The patients started receiving doses of hydroxychloroquine ranging from 3.64-19.05 mg/kg. Visual tests showed low vision, and imaging tests revealed retinal pigment epithelium changes. The study confirms that retinopathy secondary to hydroxychloroquine occurred in all patients. [Extracted from the article]
