Abstract
- The U.S. Olympic fencing team consists entirely of athletes from Harvard University, which is unusual considering Harvard's reputation for producing academics rather than athletes. The team includes four fencers on the men's saber team and six fencers representing the U.S. and Canada in total. Harvard has more fencers at the Olympics than most countries, with 42 nations having smaller delegations than Harvard. The success of Harvard's fencing program can be attributed to recruiting elite talent from around the world and the coaching of former world No. 1 saber fencer Eli Dershwitz.
