Immune-globulin: Lack of efficacy.

In a retrospective chart review study, a 9-year-old boy with Anti-HMG Coenzyme A reductase antibody myopathy was found to have a lack of efficacy during treatment with immune-globulin. The boy had a history of muscle weakness and high levels of anti-HMGCR antibodies. He initially showed improvement with immune-globulin treatment, but after 2 years, his creatine kinase levels remained elevated. He then started receiving treatment with methotrexate and showed improvement in muscle strength.
