Abstract

The article offers information on the bipartisan effort behind the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) of 1918, a landmark wildlife conservation law. Topics discussed include the drastic decline in bird populations due to hunting and fashion; Senator George P. McLean's coalition-building for bird protection; and the potential for future bipartisan solutions to modern challenges through generational change.
