Abstract

A simple, convenient and ecofriendly method for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles has been reported in this paperwork. The aqueous solution of metal ion was treated with aqueous fruit extract from medicinal plant Artemisia maritima, stirred for few minutes and left overnight at room temperature. The nanoparticles thus formed were filtered and dried in an oven. Characterization of silver nanoparticles involved UV-Visible, IR, XRD and Scanning Electron Microscopic analysis. The XRD, SEM, UV and FTIR results were found to be promising. This green approach can be used for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles by retaining their biomedical utility. Biosynthesized silver nanoparticles further evaluated for their anticancer, antibacterial and antioxidant activity. This green method is very handy for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles and devoid of toxic chemicals and by-products, offers numerous advantages including notable compatibility with pharmaceutical and biomedical applications.
