Abstract
- The Green Claims Directive (GCD),1 currently a Commission draft, represents the future legal framework for advertising with environmental claims, so-called green claims. The GCD is closely linked to the UCP Amending Directive 2024/825,2 which was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 6 March 2024. The two directives are intended to form a coherent framework and are therefore considered together in this article. In particular, reference is made to relevant changes of the UCP Amending Directive 2024/825 in the text adopted by the European Parliament on 17 January 2024.3 On 12 March 2024, the EU Parliament voted on the draft GCD at first reading and adopted it with 146 amendments. On 17 June 2024 the European Council adopted its position ('generic approach') and made some significant changes to the draft. The most important amendments are presented in section V. News & Outlook. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
