Abstract

In this study, conventional drilling of CFRP composite was investigated by varying spindle speed (SS), and feed rate (FR) on drilling performances such as thrust force (TF), torque, and delamination damage. The outcome of the study revealed a reduction in the drilling performance, such as TF, torque, and delamination damage of the CFRP laminates, by increasing SS and reducing FR. Using analysis of variance (ANOVA) approach, the investigation showed that FR is the most governing process parameter for conventional drilling performances. FESEM was used to examine the hole surfaces of the workpiece in order to determine the damages produced in conventional drilling of CFRP composite laminates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
