Abstract

The article provides a literature review of red ulcerative lesions that are commonly observed in the oral cavity. Topics discussed include herpes simplex virus oral infections such as fever blisters and primary herpetic stomatitis and their treatment with antiviral drugs, angular cheilitis and its treatment with antifungal drugs, the sexually transmitted disease syphilis which is caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum, different types of aphthous ulcers, and median and rhomboid glossitis.
