Abstract

Polyurea elastomers exhibit superior mechanical properties due to their unique molecular structure, including significant tensile strength, elongation at break, and efficient energy absorption. Many studies have shown that polyurea elastomers can effectively reduce structural damage caused by blast loads, thus attracting widespread attention in the field of blast protection. This review presents a comprehensive analysis of the formulation optimization, energy absorption mechanism and the close relationship between microstructure and macroscopic properties of polyurea elastomers. Additionally, recent research advances in the blast resistance of sprayed polyurea elastomers in various protective structures are summarized. Finally, this review summarizes the current challenges in polyurea elastomer research and provides a forward-looking perspective on its future development. Future research should prioritize the design of formulations and material optimization to systematically study the factors influencing the protective performance of polyurea composite structures. It should also explore the application of advanced technologies in polyurea research to investigate the protection mechanisms at the microlevel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
