Abstract

Over the course of more than 30 years of production Michel Foucault surpassed disciplinary limits and achieved a powerful amalgamation between fields of knowledge such as philosophy, history and psychology. Through the following pages I intend to explain his methodological journey, the stages of his intellectual project, and especially how, in the 1970's, he carried out a genealogy of history inspired by the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. This procedure entails historical reflection and painstaking work with archives. From this perspective, philosophy is a historical--critical task, lacking the pretension of constructing a univocal and conciliatory sense of historical events. On the contrary, Foucault's philosophical project as a critical history of thought aims to delve into discontinuities and struggles; in short it is proposed to elucidate the games of veridiction that made our present possible.
