Abstract

This article interprets, through Courtine's historical semiology in dialogue with discourse analysis, the technophilic discourse inscribed in MegaBeast Investigator Jaspion. The Metal hero series, of which Jaspion is a part, establishes an alliance between the technological body and the defense of the democratic State. This alliance is established in opposition to that constituted by the monstrous body and the imperial State. For the latter, we diagnosed technophobia - technology obliterated in the monster's body - and, for the first one, technophilia - power and efficiency in the hero's technological body. The question is: "How does the technophilic discourse operate, in productions like Jaspion, the negativization of the monstrous body and the positivization of the superhero's body?"
