Abstract

A 50-year-old man developed IgA vasculitis while being treated with allopurinol for gout. He presented with a rash on his lower extremities and abdomen, along with diarrhea. Physical examination revealed purpura and pink papules on his skin. Laboratory tests showed elevated antistreptolysin O titre and C-reactive protein. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of IgA vasculitis, and it was also discovered that the man had asymptomatic COVID-19, which contributed to the vasculitis. He was successfully treated with prednisone and topical corticosteroids, and both the vasculitis and COVID-19 eventually resolved. [Extracted from the article]
