Abstract

This article explores the role of musculoskeletal radiologists in interventional oncology, specifically in percutaneous image-guided musculoskeletal interventions for cancer management. Musculoskeletal radiologists provide expertise in image interpretation, tumor staging, and treatment decision-making. However, there are challenges in balancing diagnostic and interventional skills and navigating the complexities of oncology and palliative care. Despite these challenges, musculoskeletal radiologists have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the field of interventional oncology by providing comprehensive palliative care for cancer patients. The article emphasizes the importance of understanding intrinsic motivations, reflecting on evolving trends in medicine and radiology, collaborating with other clinical specialties, and building a talent pool of like-minded colleagues. Ultimately, radiologists can enhance the quality of life for cancer and terminally ill patients and become trusted partners in patient care. [Extracted from the article]
