Abstract

This article explores the experiences of a lived experience researcher working in a mental health ward. The researcher, who has personal experience with mental health issues, highlights the challenges of being in a hospital setting where they were previously a patient. They observed the treatment of patients, including being detained in seclusion rooms and given medication. The article emphasizes the value of listening to and valuing the expertise of lived experience researchers, while also acknowledging the diverse experiences and perspectives within the mental health system.
